September is Hawaiian History Month, a time to reflect on the people, places, and events that have shaped Hawai‘i. It is also the birthday month of Queen Lili‘uokalani, Hawai‘i’s last reigning monarch and an enduring symbol of the Hawaiian Kingdom, its sovereignty, and its continuing legacy.

Explore The Hawaiian Journal of History
The Hawaiian Journal of History is an annual journal devoted to original articles on the history of Hawai‘i, Polynesia, and the Pacific area. Each issue includes articles on a variety of subjects; illustrations; book reviews; notes and queries; and a bibliography of recent Hawai‘i-related titles of historical interest. Individuals may receive the journal by joining the Hawaiian Historical Society. Libraries and institutions can subscribe via UH Press.
