Reviewing UH Press Books
On a case-by-case basis, University of Hawaiʻi Press provides complimentary digital or print review copies to the media (including journals, newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and online media) for use for book reviews or in conjunction with relevant written articles, newscasts, or radio segments. Appropriate attribution to UH Press must accompany the final product. Those with addresses outside US postal zones are encouraged to accept PDF review copies in lieu of print.
Please send requests to the Marketing Department Product Managers for consideration (see below). Review copies will be provided at the discretion of the UHP Marketing Department Product Manager
The following information should be included with the request:
- Full name and title
- Publication/media name
- Phone number (optional), email, and web address
- Deadline requirements, if any
Email your request for a review copy to our marketing staff.
For titles focused on Hawaiʻi, Pacific, and Asian American studies, send requests to Carol Abe. On an interim basis, requests for all other titles may also be sent to her and, as necessary, your request will be forwarded to the appropriate staff person.
Book Reviews for Publication in UH Press Journals
Many of our journal editorial offices consider submissions of book reviews related to their subject areas, but editorial policies vary by journal. You may find author guidelines on each UH Press journal’s product page. Click here to browse our Journals by Subject to find the best fit for your book review. Please do not submit your unpublished review to UH Press staff; we do not solicit book reviews and will delete or recycle any unsolicited mail.
