Pacific Science Call for Papers

Special Issue: Scaling up Restoration Efforts in the Pacific Regions

Pacific Science , a journal dedicated to biological and physical sciences, is calling for submissions to a special issue focusing on identifying challenges and solutions in the process of scaling up restoration efforts in the Pacific Islands.

Success stories, such as that of Hakalau Forest National Wildlife Refuge, demonstrate the value in large-scale efforts. … Efforts at restoration must also be scaled up in wetlands, estuaries, and marine habitats such as coral reefs and seagrass beds to create resiliency throughout the Pacific Islands.

Authors should carefully read over and follow author guidelines for Pacific Science. Complete manuscripts should be sent to editors Melissa Price (pricemel@hawaii.edu), College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa; and Rob Toonen (toonen@hawaii.edu), Hawai‘i Institute of Marine Biology at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. Manuscript submissions are due November 1, 2016.

Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

• Large-scale weed/invasive species management
• Upstream modifications/downstream effects
• Construction of novel native ecosystems that are resilient to climate change effects
• Large-scale eradication of introduced mammals
