Federal judge and author Samuel P. King passed away on December 7 in Honolulu. In his nearly four decades as a U.S. District Court judge, King presided over several landmark cases including the Hawaii Land Reform Act of 1967 and co-wrote the famous 1997 “Broken Trust” essay that brought about the transformation of Bishop Estate.
