Topics in the Contemporary Pacific

The Topics in the Contemporary Pacific series was founded by the late Brij V. Lal to address issues of pressing concern to the Pacific Island region as a whole. It is aimed at lay readers, students, researchers from within and beyond the Pacific, policy makers, and other interested professionals. While the selection of authors will be guided chiefly by the relevance and appeal of their proposed project to the overall purpose of the series, a conscious effort will be made to foster new and broad-based talent. Some studies will crystallise new problems, some will be the first comprehensive treatment of a contemporary issue, and others will tackle subjects of perennial importance for the region.
